About
The Functional Magnetic Materials (FMM) group is within the Department of Materials Science & Engineering, University of Sheffield.
Our main lab is in the Sir Robert Hadfield Building on Portobello Street, which is part of the University's Engineering area.
We also use shared facilities within the Royce Discovery Centre, also on Portobello Street, and in the Nanoscience Centre on the University's North Campus.
The group has wide-ranging capabilities in making, measuring, and modelling bulk, thin film, and nano/micro-structured magnetic materials. Our research also covers a wide range of phenomena and applications, from basic science through to near-end-point development. We collaborate with colleagues from academia and industry who work across, for example, computer science, electronic engineering, aerospace, automotive, medicine, biology, energy, physics, and chemistry.
Please get in touch if you would like to discuss possible future collaborations.
