Dr. Leong Zhaoyuan (Zhao)
PDRA
Zhao is currently on his second PDRA working with Professor Nicola Morley on designing thermomagnetic cooling devices. His previous PDRA was on designing magnetostrictive actuators for structural health monitoring in aerospace composites which was commended in the NASA Tech Briefs Design the Future 2019 Aerospace Category. His Ph.D. in alloy design was awarded in 2018 receiving the Brunton medal, and his M.Eng in Materials Science & Engineering was awarded the Lucy Oldfield award. His current research includes the design of novel magnetic sensors and devices, and the development of parametric alloy-design methodologies towards these purposes.
